Hyatt Joins Other Hotel Groups towards Bringing a Greener Environment

Hyatt Hotels makes plans to reduce plastic usage at all of its hotels located around the globe. As a starter, it will reduce usage of single-use water bottles and bring a change in its bathroom amenities.

The hotel chain will implement these changes by June 2021.

Hotels usually provide small bottles of shampoo, lotion, conditioner, and gel. Now it will make changes to bring in larger containers that can be reused and will last longer.

Further, more water stations will be located around the hotels so that guests can refill their water bottles. Filtered water spouts are to be installed in guest rooms so that fresh drinking water will be available for use to guests and customers.

Small bottles that contain bathroom amenities are usually strewn around and pollute the environment, and landfills. By using a larger format of such amenities, Hyatt hotels intend to reduce such small-bottle wastages, as they are usually single-use containers that are wasted.

Single-use bottles that are used to carry water are usually disposed of immediately. They are the main reason for accumulation of plastic garbage and Hyatt is taking efforts to bring in a change. Such bottled water will be provided only on request to guests.

Hyatt intends to introduce other initiatives in its war against a polluted environment. It will be providing plastic straws for drinks and juices. Alternative options are provided at its hotel chains. Providing recyclable products that are easily perishable and compostable will be the alternatives. Plastic food containers will be provided in packaging that can be recycled.

Hyatt says that plastic pollution has become a global issue and guests have to be motivated to reduce the usage of plastic.

Some Hyatt hotels have already installed these amenities in their steps toward sustainability.

Marriott and IHG have already implemented these measures and more hotels will be joining in their effort towards sustainability.
